It also challenged the idea that our culture had a greater degree of 'faulty brain chemistry' than these third world countries where depression is much less prevalent or non existent, and stated that it is more likely something about the way we are living which is creating greater rates of depression, fear, addiction and anxiety.

The article went on to state, 'People have both physical and emotional needs. The extent to which any of these needs are not met closely corresponds to how physically and mentally ill we become.

The Human Givens approach to health and wellbeing lists the needs we all have to meet in life if we want to stay healthy and thrive rather than just survive.

These needs include:

Security: You need to feel safe and secure and feel you have some safe territory. This might also include the need for privacy.

Sustenance: You need sufficient balanced nutrition, adequate physical exercise and regular good quality sleep to maintain your physical health.

Attention: You need to regularly give and receive quality attention.

Volition: You need to feel that you have some influence and control over your own life.

Emotional connection: You need to be connected to others through friendship, work relationships, loving relationships and physical intimacy.

Community: You need to feel part of something larger than yourself, a community of people.

Status: You need to have a sense of your standing with others, to feel you have a recognizable and valued role in life. This also connects to a sense of competence and achievement.

Achievement: You need to find activities and occupations that stimulate and stretch you, learning physical and mental skills and exploring and developing your potential.

Meaning: When these needs are adequately met then life feels meaningful and enjoyable.

The more fully a person’s needs are met, the more healthy their self esteem will be. '

I also agree with their thoughts that we need to stop looking at these people as being different from rest of us and instead see their distress as being a fully understandable aspect of being human.

Hope you enjoyed my blog today.

L&L
Gillian

Dalai Lama Quote

Hi

Sometimes I think a lot, 'how can this be possible'. Since attending my weekly hypnosis class, I've discovered this is my conscious brain at play. Instead of accepting good things, I would always analyse why a good thing would happen and then perhaps prevent it from happening as my conscious brain couldn't understand why it was possible for it to happen. Crazy eh!!!! But that is what our conscious brains do, they like to analyse everything, which may hold you back from achieving your goals or dreams, if your conscious brain can't work it out and therefore can't accept it.

My other recurring thought which I had been having was, 'how could hypnosis possibly create long lasting permanent change, especially when someone has challenging deep ingrained negative programming, belief systems etc'. This may seem like a strange thought as I have personally benefited and watched many others benefit from hypnosis even when they are challenged by deep ingrained negative thought patterns, and then I found the quote below posted by Dalai Lama 26th September 2011 which answered my question and I thought I have to share this one.

Dalai Lama quote
'The nature of the mind is such that if certain mental qualities are developed on a sound basis they not only remain but they also increase. In fact, once properly developed the mind's good qualities eventually increase indefinitely. Therefore spiritual practice brings long term happiness and inner strength'

So it now makes sense to my critical brain (conscious brain) if a hypnotherapist installs new suggetions on a sound basis, not only will they remain but they also increase. Which has in fact happened to me, so I know this is a truth for me.

Anyway I'm sure many out there may of had the same question, and perhaps the answer I found may help in some way.

Hope you enjoyed my blog today.

L&L

Gillian

Time Line Therapy Helps Overcome Trauma

Hi

I've just recently discovered Timeline Therapy which is an extremely powerful NLP technique, which helps you release the five main emotions anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt from your timeline (birth to present age).

A lot of people use this to overcome traumatic experiences, which also helps dissolve depression and anxiety.

Hope you enjoyed my quick post and I hope it may help someone else.

L&L

Gillian

EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress

Hi

Thanks for checking out my blog. I had to write about EMDR which I have just recently trained in. This is a fantastic tool for releasing anxiety and panick attacks and any other related stress symptoms. This tool was created by Shapiro in the 1980's for war veteran's.

This technique uses the SUDS scale (1-10) and uses various eye movements used in a repetitive way to bring down anxiety/stress levels as you follow your Hypnotherapist's finger while thinking of traumatic event. To finish off the technique the new feeling of how you want to feel is established using different eye movents, and some stress relief hypnosis is used.

Personally I loved this technique and it definitely helped me with the fear of death I developed after going through 2 deaths of close family member's within a year. Obviously the right course for me, at the right time!

This technique has also been shown to reduce phobias/fears and cravings.

I do highly recommend as it is quick and effective.

I hope you enjoyed my post.

L&L

Gillian

Breathing Technique to Deal With Stress

Hi

Since coming back from the Barefoot holiday I have since googled Barefoot Doctor on utube and found one of his techniques, to be really spot on to bring you back to centre within about a minute and a half. It's called the 'release negative thoughts technique' and involves taking 18 long slow deep breathes while holding your arms out, palms facing up, breathing out anything thats troubling you out of the back of your feet and breathing in any qualities that you need. I found this technique especially useful when someone dumps their stress on you. So I do recommend you google this exercise if you need to centre yourself quickly. I couldn't believe how much lighter I felt and the stress had melted away.

I have also been listening to Jim Fannin's 90 Second Rule audio book which also stipulates it takes a minute and a half to react, and if you practice deep breathing for a minute and a half while smiling, this brings you back to centre and increases feel good factor endorphins due to smiling while deep breathing.

I've never been into breathing techniques but I have been truly impressed with these 2 techniques and the short time of a minute and a half to bring you back to a better place.

So why not give them a try.

L&L

Gillian

Getting Yourself Unstuck

Hi

Thanks for checking out my blog today. I have not blogged for sometime now, since October last year in fact, as I was feeling like I was increasingly getting stuck on all levels with everything. The good news is I've managed to get myself unstuck and look forward to blogging regularly again.

First I have to tell you what I did to unblock myself. My tool for getting myself unblocked was a Barefoot Doctor holiday based in Italy where you can book from www.hillthatbreathes.com. This was the most incredible holiday I've ever been on, I often think it was a holiday sent from heaven as it was such a great experience.

There was maybe about 25 people who all appeared from all different backgrounds and we all gelled immediately to have the most fantastic holiday. Everyone's story helped me in some way and it was just a fantastic group of people to have met who were such fun. I have never laughed so hard every day for a long time.

The Barefoot Doctor was the most amazing guy who had a great sense of humour, although extremely serious about his craft and brought his teachings of thai chi, healing sounds for the organs, meditation and a wealth of self mastery knowledge to blow you away at each of his classes. We got classes twice a day for 6 days (4 hours a day). I just felt like I had come home, all his teaching resonated with me on a huge level and I'm still practicing his exercises since I got home and they are fantastic life skills to prevent you siezing up with the stress of every day life.

Barefoot likes to talk throughout his exercises explaining why you are doing the exercise and this is when he is passing on his years of wisdom which was brill. None of the exercises were too difficult and even the people on the course with impaired movement were more flexible by the end of the holiday and could do these exercises.

The meditations were masterpieces which everyone loved. One was connecting the heart to the brain for when you feel conflicted and your heart says one thing and brain says the other. You can ask any question and he tries to incorporate something in his class to help.

This holiday is also very good for getting rid of emotional baggage and I saw everyone transform over the week including myself.

All I can say is if I had enough money I would be sending everyone I know on one of these holidays as it is maximum fun while learning important life skills. The Barefoot is a one of a kind a very beautiful soul and a very funny soul at the same time who showered us all with his kindnessand love but in a manly way as he is a man's man. He won me over that's for sure as he did with everyone else.

The Hill was beautiful and offered other alternative treatments while we were there. I tried the Prana wash which was lovely and very relaxing. John and Gaia were lovely and we had a tea party with Gaia mid week which was fun.

Anyway if you feel stuck do get yourself on one of these holidays.

Hope you enjoyed my blog.

Love Gillian

Why Are You Repeating Negative Patterns?

Hi

Today I want to talk to you about repeating mental patterns and why they happen.

We are a fully programmed being. We learn all our programmes and belief systems growing up and we learn these largely from our parents, guardians and teachers. These programmes are held in the subconscious which go on to form our habits.

So what if happens if you had a load of negative programming as you grew up. Chances are there will be repeating negative patterns that keep repeating no matter how hard you try to break them and these patterns will most likely make you very unhappy as they are conflicting with your conscious mind, the free will mind.

So it could be a case you want a happy successful relationship with your partner but all you saw when you were growing up was warring couples. Chances are you may have problems having a happy relationship and if you do get one, you won't appreciate it and do everything you can to sabotage your own happiness. The subconscious is usually way stronger than the conscious, (free will mind), especially when you have an ingrained negative belief (say couples are always unhappy and arguing) which then becomes your mental habit which you will subconsciously go on to recreate in your own life and have no idea why you keep attracting unhappy relationships.

So what can you do to free yourself of recurring negative patterns. I have put together a free downloadable audio meditation, releasing you from ingrained negative beliefs, blocks, fears, habits from each of your energy centres (chakras) which will help you to rebalace your emotions at http://www.happyhealthymind.co.uk/. So go and get your FREE download audio now and bust those negative patterns to unleash a happier new you now.

To your success and happiness

Love & Light

Gillian

Tool To Free Yourself From Worry

Hi

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Today I want to talk about worry. Worry isn't good for us and it usually crops up when we are stuck in our thinking, repeating the same negative loop which may, or may not occur.

This happens when we think negative past events may happen again or alternatively worrying about something that may happen in the future, which leads to us not enjoying the present day, because we are too busy worrying about the past or the future.

To live in the present we have to stop looking at the world through our filters of outdated beliefs created by the past and stop ourselves from living in fear of the future, which both ultimately limit our future.

If you feel anxious about your future take this as a sign to examine and explore what beliefs you hold about your feelings about your possible future. Positive beliefs fuel positive outcomes. Are your beliefs positive or negative? Are they outdated and or limiting you? Do you see the same beliefs running down your family line? Have they been learned from childhood?

A good way to stop the worry is to live in the 24 hour clock and be conscious of your thinking. Whenever you are worrying about your future or someone elses future, think how your life is today and start repeating everything you are grateful for today. For example you could be worrying that someone's health may deteriorate in the future. Pull yourself back to the 24 hour clock. How are they today? They are here on planet earth? They may be taking baby steps to get better but this is a positive? When you look at all the positives and build on what you've got, the worry fades away as you take one day at a time.

Alternatively you could have been through the winds of adversity and dwelling on the past. Again, pull yourself back to the 24 hour clock, how are you today? Do you have your job, health, your family, your friends? What are the good things in your life today? Think about them and keep repeating them everytime you feel yourself slipping back into the past.

The more you think positively and live within the 24 hour clock the more positive experiences you will attract. So give it a try.

And also I've never heard of anyone improving a situation by worrying themselves sick. You are simply wasting your valuable energy which will drain you. Remember worrying cannot and does not improve the situation you are worrying about! However thinking about the positives can!!!

Hope you like your new tool.

L&L

Gillian

Why Do We Make Poor Choices

Hi

Today I want to talk about choice. What you choose can strengthen you or weaken you. What you choose can empower you or make you despondent, can make you happy or sad.

So when you think of it the power of choice is crucial to a happy, successful life.

Try asking yourself before you make a choice does this enhance my life? If the answer is yes then you are going in the right direction and this is one of your stepping stones guiding you to a happier life.

If the answer is no, chances are you don't want to make this choice.

Another question to ask is will this choice hurt me or others? Obviously you dont want to hurt others so you wouldn't make a choice that would do this.

But think of the poor choices that we have made where we have indeed made choices that make us unhappy, put us in danger etc. The more poor choices you make the more momentum you build to drag you to the depths of despair and vice versa, the more positive choices we make propel us into a happy life.

So why do we make poor choices? I believe a lot of it is to do with our internal programming in the subconscious. Our inner sabatoeur. Perhaps we grew up in an environment where our parents would sabotage themselves, or we are in an environment like that the now.

We can help ourselves by making choices that bring us one step closer to our dreams, instead of one step further from our dreams. And the great thing about choice is we can choose again and again until we get it right!

If you find yourself constantly sabotaging your happiness with wrong choices, you may need extra help to break the pattern, hypnotherapy is very good for releasing this bad habit.

Hope you have liked my article.

L&L

Gillian

Difficult People Are The Gems Who Teach Us

Hi

I would like to talk about difficult people today as I feel I have been dealing with one for the last couple of years and I tend to wonder why we have to meet people who are difficult.

But if you look at it differently what would we learn if everyone were nice, probably not much. I would also say difficult people are people who are so hurt themselves they are unable to give out love to others and are usually dwelling in lower end emotions such as anger and hate.

I read a really interesting article that difficult people are the little gems who come along to teach us more about compassion and understanding, which really resonated with me, because when I meet someone difficult I always try to understand what their problem is and once I know what the problem is, it automatically brings on compassion.

When you look at it like this it can dissolve any anger you may feel towards a difficult person, as you now know they are teaching you about compassion and understanding. You can even affirm this to yourself when you feel your heckles raising in the company of a difficult person.

Which may be particularly helpful when faced with difficult people who you can't get away from such as family members.

L&L

Gillian

Explanation of Sanity/Insanity

Hi

As you can tell this week I have been enjoying the book, The Gentle Art Of Blessing. He would bless them in their health, joy, finances, work, family relationships, peace, abundance, thier goodness and their integrity.

He said slowly these blessings moved from being an act of will to an act from the heart. He blessed them all day long while jogging, brushing his teeth, cooking the dinner.

He found blessing others was one of the most efficient ways of staying spiritually centred, and of freeing his thoughts from negativity, critisism and judgement.

So give it a try and see what happens.

L&L

Gillian

Explanation of black thoughts & protection

Hi All

Thanks for checking out my blog today.

I have recently been reading The Gentle Art of Blessing by Pierre Pradervand and I read an interesting take on why you must always bless your friends and foe alike on page 55.

It read as follows:

"Black thoughts fit black holes, white thoughts fit white holes, if you send a black thought but the other person does not return a black thought about you, your thoughts will be returned as they have no holes for it, so you are only hurting yourself."

Those who stay strong and think good thoughts regardless of others trying behaviour will naturally deflect negativity away from themselves.

He also goes on to state,"He who wants to protect himself from his enemies arrow must have courage to face him and do him good with a smile on his face and in the heart. In this way the arrow will be deflected and will fall," and he also explains blessing an enemy is a shield that protects them from the ignorance of their misdeed and deflects the arrow that was aimed at you.

I hope you enjoyed my post.

L&L
Gillian

Paying Too Much Attention To Your Emotions May Be Bad For You

Hi

Thanks for checking out my blog today. I was reading an interesting article some time ago in Soul & Spirit April 2010 edition which captured my attention as it really resonated with me and I thought I must blog about it.

It talked about in Tibetan Culture they are advised not to take their emotions too seriously, as your emotions are always constantly changing and instead importance is placed on the accumulation of wisdom and generating compassion for others.

The Tibetan Monk, Dzogchen Rinpoche "explains that when we repeatedly analyse our experiences, we solidify our feelings and make them seem very real. They develop a narrative of their own, and before we know it, we are caught up in the soap opera stories of our mind. Sometimes even the smallest incident can turn into the biggest drama, but this is just an old HABIT! Our emotions are like thieves that deceive us and rob us of our inner peace. We continually place our trust in them, believing their stories, but we only become disappointed. It is this disappointment that can cause us to react negatively".

The article goes on to say that our culture now practices a better out than in philosophy and suggests we express ourselves even if we upset others around us.

However Tibetan culture emphasises we should consider the consequences of doing this and they encourage altruistic action and compassion for others but this can easily be destroyed by dangerous emotions such as anger.

And most importantly he goes on to say, "One small seed of compassion can grow into a giant tree, but one small spark of anger can burn an entire forest."

This really rung true with me as it is true one spark of anger can destroy everything that you have built up in your life whether that be relationships, your family, your job. So why would we put all that on the line to express our anger which is only an emotion which will pass like all other emotions do. Are we not better not taking this emotion so seriously and giving ourselves time to calm down before we react.

According to Dzogchen Rinpoche he says our wellbeing would benefit from not taking our emotions too seriously, the aim is not to get rid of emotions like sadness, anger, desire, stress but to let all these emotions come and go without reacting, to experience peace and stability of the mind.

Managing Your Emotions Action List The Tibetan Way

1. Think long term, your emotions may feel appropriate right now, but you will probably feel differently as time passes.

2.Trust your actions, have faith in your positive actions. When you trust in what you do, you can be confident the result will be beneficial.

3.Take a step back create spaciousness in your life, to limit getting caught up in the stories of your mind and those of others

4.Take a deep breath, gently place awareness on your breath to help your mind settle.

5. Rest your mind, the antidote for all emotions is to turn your mind inwards and discover a natural peace and wellbeing within.

6.Acceptance, emotions don't have as much strength when you accept situations, rather than wanting to have things go your way.

I hope you have found this of interest.

Forgiveness Starts With Forgiving Yourself

Hi

Thanks for checking out my blog today.

I was reading an interesting quote by Ghandi the other day, it said, "Healing pain by others, forgive yourself." Forgiveness is chosing to love instead of hate when someone wrongs you. This can be difficult when you first try this if you are not used to forgiving, but like learning anything new it will become easier the more you practice this concept. This applies to yourself also when you carry out any wrong doing you need to forgive yourself. Forgiveness is the first skill of self love.

If you think of the law of attraction (like attracts like), the more you let go of pain in yourself and forgive, the less pain and unforgiveness from others you will attract. So it is a win win situation. The more you can let go of pain the more you can attract loving situations and your true hearts desires.

Releasing unforgiveness is really important for the human soul as unforgiveness only accumulates over time and can lead to bitterness. Ask yourself do you want to be like that bitter person you know? Or the kind, caring person you know? I usually remind myself that forgiveness will always improve my future.

I found it interesting Louise L Hay (Healer Guru) has included a forgiveness section in her Cancer meditation CD, which makes you think twice about not forgiving if it can contribute to serious illness such as cancer.

I hope you found this informative and always choose to forgive, there are lots of self help meditation CD's on the market to help with this or obviously Hypnotherapy also helps.

Have a good day.

L&L

Gillian

Stuck in Anger

Hi All

Thanks for checking out my blog. Did you know according to Kinesiology behavioural barometer, people who are stuck in anger should try being more willing to help. And vise versa often you will notice people who don't want to help anyone are stuck in anger.

I believe refusing to help others also tears down your self esteem reducing your self confidence causing a downward spiral of your emotions.

So the next time you feel stuck in anger and its not shifting, carry out an act of kindness and help someone. Be willing to help others. Here are a few quotes;

"Keeping the chakras open and balanced ensures a free flow of energy in the body, which will bring positive feelings and good physical health."

"It is energy which determines our level of health, - both the energy that we have running through our chakras and aura, and the energies we are exposed to and thus have to transmute. Duan Packer's guide DaBen has some useful words of advice: he always says that there is no such thing as negative energy- just energy that you cannot handle yet. By working with the chakra system you will increase the range of energies that you are able to transmute, and reduce the impact that energies are not compatible with your own will have on all levels."

It has always been chakra clearing that has brought my spirit and energy levels back up again when I've been taken to the limit with traumatic experiences in my life. When my mother was diagnosed with teminal cancer, I listened constantly to chakra clearing by Doreen Virtue and it seemed to keep me balanced all the way through her illness. Grief hit 8 months down the line when my emotions again were out of control but after listening to my own chakra clearing CD continually for a month twice a day I started to come out of the fog and could begin to see light at the end of the tunnel.

It may sound simple but chakra clearing can rebalance you quickly (approx within one-two months). Obviously I use the meditation way but there are other ways which may be better for you such as yoga, thai chi, crystal, colour, fragrance therapies, music, tibetan bells, chanting, acupuncture, reflexology, kinesiology.

Please note when you are having a really bad day and you still feel panicky after rebalancing your chakras rather than calm and relaxed. I would recommend listening to the meditation again or listen to another guided meditation to enable you to feel some sort of relaxation on days where you are struggling. Don't stop listening to your chakra clearing meditation it is working but unfortunately there are days where you think nothing is going to help you. Don't be fooled by one off day.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Love & Light

Gillian

Grief

Hi All

Sorry for the absence but unfortunately I have been swilling around in grief due to my mother's death. I had no idea it would hit me so hard, as I was still using all my tools and I know a great deal about emotions, so I thought I could stop the grief coming. Boy was I wrong. It hit me like a truck. First symptoms, crying at everything and anything, crying in all my lunchbreaks in my car while I was at work. Unable to drag myself out of bed to go to work. Then one day I just couldn't get out of bed to go to work and thats when I thought I have to get myself to the doctors if I can't go to work. I had about 3 week of this crying and struggling to get up before I reached for help but I'm glad I did. I tried anti-depressants and counselling. Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to antidepressants (did you know these tablets can make you feel worse and spiral you even further down?) so I decided the counselling was my only option. And what a marvellous facility to have access to. I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones as I was able to access counselling quickly for free through the hospice where my mother died. 3 months later I feel completely back to my old self without drugs.

While I have been off, I have used a lot of guided meditations to get me back on my feet, and one of them was my own chakra clearing CD which I listened to twice a day. This was a God send as I would spiral all the negative feelings up and bring down qualities that I needed. Chakra clearing is like spring cleaning the mind and body. I felt a real difference after a month of listening to it.

Then I was reading an article from Soul& Spirit April 2010 magazine on healing broken hearts and something really jumped out. It said make a conscious decision to heal. The first step to any positive action is a clear intent. Be clear in your mind you are healing your heart and any other area of your life that needs healed. Write it down and repeat it as an affirmation. This seemed so easy why didn't I think of that. I read this at the same time as I came of the antidepressants and seemed to start having more good days quickly, so just having the intent certainly seemed to work for me.

The article also went on to say; Tap into any unconscious desires that are blocking your progress: its that little inner voice that wants to stop you from achieving your dreams. If any part of you wants to hold onto the pain, recovery would be slower.

Then I tried this exercise to connect to my inner saboteur;

Close your eyes and relax. Take a few deep breaths and draw your awareness back from your forehead, your thinking brain, and into the still centre of your brain. Now ask your subconscious to reveal what parts of you are blocking progress and why. For example, ask why you are holding onto the pain. Listen to the answers, no matter how irrational. You can reason with this part of yourself that its right to let go now, and explain why. Write your answers down afterwards so you can refer back to them. And don't worry if nothing comes up at first, your subconscious will provide what you need when its ready.

The above technique's come from Jo Rawlinson, holistic therapist.

Hope this may help anyone who is grieving, just know reaching for help is the answer and having clear intent to heal quickens the process. Don't let it go on for so long that you let yourself get so low it's harder to get back up. As the doctor said to me people who refuse to deal with grief walk in 5 years later like basket cases and take longer to get back on their feet. It has to come out some time so accept and acknowledge the help quickly to help yourself.

Love&light

Gillian

Grounding Yourself Helps Depression

Hi All

I've always been very interested in chakras as soon as I discovered what they were.

The chakras are multifunctional, containing emotional, creative and celestial components and as we allow more light or love to flow into our chakras, blockages of an emotional, mental or physical nature can be released.

A healthy chakra spins clockwise drawing universal energy into your energy field, if your chakras are reversed however then energy flows out of your body leaving you weak and dizzy.

Chakras can get blocked from not dealing with negative experiences, we need to heal and release these experiences from our body.

The base chakra which is located at the base of your spine is the seat of desire and of the will to live and survive. Security issues are located in this chakra. This is red in colour and can be visualised as a red spinning ball at the bottom of your spine.

"If the incoming life-force is blocked, we will be ungrounded, "not present", and will spend a lot of time asleep and be generally low in energy, often with an absence of physical strength and stamina and not much interest in the outside world. At its worst we can even lose our will to live."(pg39 The Light Diet, by Elisabeth Constantine)

There is a school of thought that thinks that depression can stem from being disconnected from mother earth, so that you feel disconnected or cut off from everyone and everything.

So what can we do to help ourselves.

Grounding ourselves everyday through visualisation is a good start. I usually visualise a gold grounding cord falling from the sky running down through my body running deep into mother earth's core, I then tie it securely around a rose quartz crystal in the centre of the earth, I then see a purple cord coming back up through my body which then ties in a multicoloured bow on the top of my head. When I need extra grounding I usually see lots of cords coming out from my body even my head which go deep into mother earth and tie round the crystal or tie round rocks in mother earth. And when I'm having real problems grounding myself I usually visualise my whole body in the earth as close to the core as possible.

There are other tools to help you ground yourself. Eating red fruit and vegetables helps. Wearing the colour red. Getting out in nature every day to reconnect yourself with mother earth.

Carrying any red crystal such as red jasper.

Even if you find it hard to visualise if you just ask for help to be grounded every day or repeat the affirmation I am grounded, I feel secure in every way. You are putting your intention out into the universe.

I hope you can use these tools or pass them on to somone who needs them.

Love & Light

Gillian

32 Complementary Therapies On NHS

Hi

Did you know there are 32 complementary therapies on NHS ranging from acupuncture, homeopathy, osteopathy and hypnotherapy. You can go to www.nhsdirectory.org to find out more.

You seemingly would have to ask your GP to refer you though! It states;

" In a study at the University of Hull, MRI scanners monitored the brains of people under hypnosis, who were told to imagine seeing a black and white picture in colour. When hypnotised, the subjects activated the parts of their brain that would be active if they were in fact seeing colour. However, in a normal state, this area wasn't activated.

Researchers from Withington Hospital, Manchester, found that hypnotherapy helped 71% of patients with IBS, with the effects lasting up to five years after treatment. Don't keep playing the old judgement, self righteous record in your head, you will only bring yourself down, try this instead. Write it down and keep it with you in your pocket or purse and repeat it in your head and every time you start thinking negatively, affirmation is;

"I love others no matter how they act or what their faults are, even if I don't want to be around their personality. I love them as the internal beings that they truly are."

Also another good one to prevent you dwelling on the past or the future and what might happen is;

"I am free from the past and the future"

Hope this helps you all, let me know.

L&L

Gillian

Gratitude Lists Can Destroy Anger and Hate

Hi All

Sorry to have not posted for a few weeks, I was a bit unwell, but feeling better now.

What major breakthroughs I've been having which might help you as well.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been overwhelmed by every emotion going due to my mothers death in August, including those horrible emotions anger and hate. However spiritual I think I am, I am still human and I steel feel these ego based emotions, especially when I think a great injustice has been done.

I am forever trying little rituals to rid the body of toxic emotions and I decided to write gratitude lists for the people who I perceived to have carried out terrible actions towards my mother when she was dying.

I decided I would write 10 bullet points every day of either lessons I had learnt or of things I was truly grateful for about these persons. I even did a gratitude list to remind me of what I was grateful for about my mothers death, as sometimes it is too easy to dwell on the negatives and lack. And I refuse to be caught up in negativity, however I find unless you use tools it is too easy to be dwelling on the negatives.

To my amazement, it gave me a whole different perspective on these people and my mothers death. I suddenly realised that although these peoples actions were wrong, they had actually brought more good into my life than bad prior to my mother's death and this was just a blip in the whole picture of our lives. I also realised sometimes people just can't cope in stressful situations, and even if they are still continuing to act in a way I think is hurtful I am still grateful they are in my life than not in my life even if they want to act really hard hearted. Sometimes patience is needed after such a shock for everyone to adjust.

When I wrote my gratitude list for my mother's death I suddenly realised I could have written a book on what I have learnt about death, emotions, how death affects families, cancer, caring for the terminally ill, hospices, carers, the fall out of emotions after the death, how families cope or don't cope months later. This experience was a huge learning curve for me where I had to think for myself quickly and register when other family members were not thinking straight, so I didn't get sucked into their negative way of thinking and doing.

So I do recommend doing gratitude lists to get you to focus on the positive rather than the negative, as it does really work for intense strong emotions, which you know you have to break to create a positive outcome.

I new I had to write about this today when I picked out an Ascended Masters oracle card by Doreen Virtue which stated,"Find the Blessings in Your Current Situation" and the additional meaning for the card was, "You heal through the power of gratitude"

Let me know how you get on.

Love&Light

Gillian

GP's Should Prescribe Meditation for Depression Says Mental Health Foundation

Hi All

My good friend Callie from www.holisticfeathers.co.uk informed me of this article which was printed in the Times Online-5 January 2010-Author Sam Lister, Health Editor

The study commissioned by the Mental Health Foundation, found fewer than one in 20 GP's prescribed meditation therapy for patients suffering depression, despite NHS guidance suggesting that it could halve depression relapse rates.

One in 10 people in Britain are affected by clinical depression, defined by a range of symptoms within a single two week period, and 50% of sufferers experience it more than once. After two bouts of depression, there is a 70% risk of relapse, which rises to 90% after 3 episodes.

The report calls for much wider use of 'mindfulness' treatment, which combines meditation with orthodox 'thought training'. The report argues that if more GP's offered the therapy it would sharply reduce the financial burden of depression, which costs Britain £7.5 billion a year.

Mental health specialists said that greater use of meditation would reduce an over-reliance on antidepressants. They said that while drugs were effective, they did not help address the possibility of future depressive episodes.

Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which has its roots in Eastern philosophy and Buddhism, trains people to focus attention on one place instead of allowing the mind to be "hijacked" by emotional issues, regrets, worries about the past and future, and other distractions.

This can be done in a number of ways, for example by focusing on breathing, parts of the body, or movement.

The National Instsitute for Health and Clinical Excellence issued guidance on meditation 2004 after studies suggested that it might bring benefits.

Five years later, only a fifth of GP's said they can access the treatment for their patients, and just one in 20 regularly prescribes the therapy, according to the Mental Health Foundation report Be Mindful.

MBCT costs on average £300 per patient for a course of two hour sessions over 8 weeks. Since patients are treated in groups of up to 20, the cost is said to be much lower than one-to-one cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

A key difference between the new approach and traditional CBT is that patients are seen between episodes of depression, and not when they are in the grips of the illness. Another difference is the inclusion of meditation, as research has shown that relying on CBT alone to prevent recurrent depression does not work as well.

Mark Williams, Professor of Clinical pSychology at the University of Oxford, who contributed to the report, said that meditative therapy enabled people to switch off "brooding recrimination" and, while acknowledging these thoughts, move beyond them.

"People begin to see thoughts and feelings as a temporary weather pattern in the mind, and realise they don't have to judge themselves," he said.

More than 100 studies, some involving Buddhist monks, have shown that brainwave activity changes during meditation, and that areas of the brain linked to controlling emotion are bigger in people who have meditated regularly for 5 years.

Mindfulness training has also been shown to increase activity in the pre-frontal cortex, a part of the brain associated with positive emotion that is normally subdued in depressed individuals.

Andrew McCulloch, chief executive of the Mental Health Foundation, said that doctors prescribed antidepressants too often. "Mindfulness-based therapy could help prevent thousands of people from relapsing into depression every year. This would have huge knock on benefits both socially and economically, making it a sensible treatment to make available, even at a time when money is short within the NHS," he said.

"Depression tends to come back for many people, with the odds of further bouts increasing each time. A single episode is serious enough, but having the illness return year after year can have a devastating impact on peoples jobs, relationships, and their chances in life generally.

The case for making MBCT available on the NHS relies on two key studies of patients with recurring depression. One undertaken ten years ago, showed a 37% relapse rate for patients given MBCT, compared with 66% for those not given treatment. The other conducted in 2004, showed an even bigger difference between the two groups, with relapse rates of 36% and 78%. Another recent trial in Exeter, with results published last year, indicated that MBCT is at least as effective at preventing relapses as antidepressants.

Jonty Heaversedge, a South London GP who learnt to meditate at a Buddhist centre and believes the practice can improve many aspects of health, said: "Depression is something that effects a huge number of my patients, often year after year, with devastating consequences. MBCT gives them the opportunity to develop a healthier, more accepting relationship with their thoughts and feelings.

Hope you all found this informative.

Love&light

Gillian

Letting Go Can Actually Fix Your Problems!

Hi Everyone

Hope you are all keeping well. And if not its my intention to get you all there!!!!!!

Holding on to something be it negative or positive blocks our ability to receive.

When you think about it, neediness or desperation to hold on to something are synonymous with feelings of lack and the absence of what you want, hence you will repel your desired goal and perpetuate you not having it.

You may be holding onto grievances, hurts, resentments or upsets from your past, or you may be holding onto positive things, such as qualities from past relationships or friendships, which prevent those very qualities showing up in the present.

When nothing you do seems to change a negative situation and you've tried everything to resolve it, it's time to let go and trust that everything is happening for a reason and if that person or thing is to be with you then they will come back into your life.

Acceptance is also important, just accepting the situation for what it is, even if you feel really irritated and can see the bigger picture, perhaps you can see someone is going down the wrong path, you have to let it go, as it is their choice and they have their lessons to learn, and perhaps there is a lesson for you as well, such as letting go.

Trust dissipates feelings of neediness, urgency and desperation, so choose to trust today and let go of the situation that is driving you mad with worry.

Trust in the positive outcome. Trust in the love and grace of the universe, trust that there is love, help and guidance available to you at every moment. Even if you just keep affirming this it will change your mind set from lack.

High vibration emotions (such as joy, freedom, love, happiness) will generate a shift and transform your world immediately for the better, attracting positive manifestations in accord with your heart's desires.

Letting go was one of the lessons I learned recently and this is why I thought I would share it with you, as it did generate an improvement. Don't get bogged down with negative emotions which drive you crazy, let go for your highest good, the situation and/or persons highest good. Good luck.

Hope you all liked, let me know how you get on.

Love & Light

Gillian

Why Gratitude Is Good For Your Mind & Body

Hi All

Hope you are all keeping well.

On flicking through the December 2009 copy of Spirit and Destiny, I came across this interesting article on gratitude showing benefits from studies carried out in 2003 by psychology professor Robert Emmons, of University of California.

The 2003 study found:

when keeping weekly gratitude journals persons reported suffering fewer health complaints, seemed to want to excercise more, and felt better about their lives

felt more optimistic about the week ahead

stonger conviction that things will go well

made more progress with personal goals whether academic, personal or health related over a 2 month period

were more likely to offer help or emotional support to someone with a personal problem

have stronger personal relationships

higher levels of attentiveness, enthusiasm, determination and energy

were able to see more positives than negatives in situations

In his 2002 study he also found grateful people were rated as more helpful and generous by others in thier social network. They were also considered more empathetic and better able to put themselves in other peoples shoes.

With all these benefits I think we should all be investing in gratitude journals. However if this is too onerous, just practice before you go off to sleep everything you are grateful for

How Do You Feed Your Mind?

Hi All

Today I want you to take a look at how you feed your mind. I used to feed my mind with constant TV, soaps in particular, the news and gossip magazines/papers. I didn't realise this was detrimental to my mind's health, preventing myself from getting out of the bit as I wasn't feeding my mind in the right way.

You have to nurture your brain. So how do you do this you ask?

Watching TV produces hypnotic alpha waves. Since the brain doesn't know what is real or imagined, all this violent, negative information is stored into your mind and if left to build up creates negative mind sets. Law of attraction says whatever you focus on you attract. So if all you are feeding your mind is negativity this isn't good for you.

You need to feed your mind with high calibre energy and information, this can come in the form of reading educational books, cd's seminars or even uplifting films/documentaries.

So what do I do? I love buying self development cd's from Nightingale & Conant or Amazon, I find it really stimulating listening to them in the car. I'm also subscribed to many self development newsletters, forums, blogs online which constantly email me knew information which helps me learn more about the topic I'm interested in (e.g. Sam Crowley good for motivation, Joe Rubino good for healing products). I always try to fit in half an hour of reading before bed. I use guided meditations every day or my own hypnosis CD's to work on eliminating negative thinking or beliefs or whatever I know is bothering me at the time.

So you see there is so much information out there to feed your mind and to help you become the person you want to be.

Take a minute and think of what is really bothering you today. Is there a self help book or CD on Amazon you could buy to help you. Or even taking a trip to the library or doing a search on Google could help you. I've always been led to the correct book that I needed at the time when I needed help with a situation. Give it a try today, you might just be surprised at the results!

Love & Light

Gillian

Kindness can Prevent Inflammation Causing Ageing

Hi Everyone,

Today I want to talk about ageing, one of the causes and how we can slow down the ageing process.

Dr David Hamilton has written in Cygnus 3rd issue, 2010 the following;

"Scientists now believe that ageing is actually like a disease, that the possible lifespan of the human body far exceeds what we currently live to. They believe that inflammation is a primary cause of ageing and are excited at the prospect of finding a new anti-inflammatory drug that can combat it. but the drug, as we know, isn't a drug but a nerve. The vagus nerve is the primary brake on inflammation in the body. It stops the collateral damage causede by the dripping tap of inflammation.

We can stimulate the vagus nerve through kindness and compassion. Kindness produces oxytocin that tickles the vagus nerve in the brain and reduces inflammation throughout the body.

Compassion also stimulates the vagus nerve. So does the deep breathing we do in meditation."

Isn't that amazing that something as simple as being kind and compassionate can actually prevent inflammation which has a knock on effect of slowing down ageing.

So go on start practicing now and see how your life changes. Try for 21 days and write down in a journal how this made you feel.

Talk soon.

Love&Light

Gillian

Did You Know You Store Long Term Memory In Your Heart As Well As Your Brain?

Hi Everyone

Thanks for checking out my blog today.

I was reading a really interesting article in 3rd issue of Cygnus Review (http://www.cygnus-books.co.uk/) by Annie Lennox about the heart. Here is what she has to say;

"Interestingly, recent research has shown that the heart is not just a simple pump, but has its own nervous system. Scientists have discovered that neurons, once believed to store longterm memory only in the brain, are distributed in a so called 'heart brain' located deep inside the heart's tissues (which may explain how some heart transplant patients pick up on certain memories from their donor).

They have discovered that the heart has an electromagnetic field that is several hundred times greater than the brain, that not only envelops every cell of the human body, but also extends out in all directions in space around us. The heart can send information to the brain through this field. They have also learned that the frequency structure of the heart energy signal correlates directly with our emotional states. How important then is it for us to focus on positive emotions, not only for the sake of our own health, but for the health around us."

As a hypnotherapist I think this information is extremely important, as I've read similar articles on this subject. I've started using techniques to cleanse the heart on myself and my clients with great benefits.

One of the techniques I have used, is to clean the heart out using a hoover hose, then open the windows of the heart to let light in, then start clearing out old boxes of rubbish such as unforgiveness, anger, hate, or whatever the boxes mean to you. Hand these boxes over to delivery man in white van. Pile the boxes in the van and sign them over to him. See him driving off into the distance where he drives through a violet flame which transmutes the energy into positive energy.

Anne Jones also has a really good meditation CD out called Opening Your Heart which has a selection of meditations to cleanse and open the heart available on Amazon.

When you think of all the heart related diseases out there, I think it is worth spending a little bit of time nurturing our hearts, doing what makes us happy and visualising our heart happy and healthy by getting rid of the emotional baggage stored in our heart brain.

Hope you liked my article, let me know.

Love & Light

Gillian

Letting Emotions Bubble Up To The Surface Is Good For You

Hi Everyone

As a therapist I have a number of techniques for ridding the body of strong emotions, but what I've realised is that sometimes we need to FEEL the emotions before we can effectively eliminate them.

It is good to feel the emotion whether it be anger, tears of fustration, sadness. These emotions are natural just like joy and happiness and should not be suppressed. It's OK to feel negative emotions and let them bubble up, as long as we do not pass or project these emotions onto others. It's not OK to hurt others because we are hurting and feeling strong emotions.

At present I'm practicing a great technique of seeing what I'm feeling 3 times a week, this gauges whether I'm still stuck in the same emotion or I have moved onto another emotion.

You can try this technique below;

I feel ................say sad
I want .............. family harmony
I am willing................. to embrace change and show more support and love to my family, especially the ones I'm in conflict with.

This technique is also good for getting you to take responsibility for your emotions and taking action to improve your life. Rather than doing nothing, we can always take some small action to get us closer to how we really want our life to be.

So why not try this out and see what emotions are coming up and take one small action to improve the situation.

Let me know how you get on.

Love & Light

Gillian

Meditation Benefits

Hi All

Being a Hypnotherapist I love visualisation and guided meditations in particular. I find they tend to boot out all sorts of stuff from my sub conscious mind. The one I'm listening to at the minute is Doreen Virtue's Chakra Clearing which is a good all rounder as clearing out clutter and emotions. I meditate at least once a day usually at the end of the day and always find I feel so much better for it.

Recently I've been reading Harmonic Wealth by James Arthur Ray and he had some interesting things to say on meditation.

He stated in his book, "Experiments have shown that experienced meditators have more activity in the left frontal lobe, the part of the brain associated with positive emotions such as happiness, joy, and contentment. These findings imply that happiness is something we can cultivate deliberately through mental training. Furthermore, research shows that regular meditators integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain and are therefore able to use what's called whole brain thinking. So not only will you be more happy and joyous, you'll be more intelligent and creative" (Pg315).

He also goes on to say, "Twenty minutes of deep meditation has been shown to be the equivalent of two hours sleep. Meditation also reduces stress. Research on longevity proves that people with less stress in their lives have lower blood pressure and live longer and more fruitful lives. They also look better and age more slowly. "(Pg 317)

Hope you liked my article.

Love & Light

Gillian

Visual Protection

Hi Everyone

Thanks for checking out my blog today.

Over the years I've discovered that visually protecting yourself is a daily necessity and works. Doing this consistently everyday builds your strength and aura (energy field) to protect you from all sorts of negativity. Visually protecting yourself is especially good if you are in a draining or argumentative atmosphere. I usually use at least two of these methods every morning before I go to work; usually the silver, gold violet flame and the mirror ball technique, and if I get drained during the day I'll repeat the visualization to boost me. If things are really bad I'll use every technique together several times in one day.

The methods I use are;

violet flame (transmutes negativity), (Anne Jones, Elizabeth Clare Prophet technique)

silver, violet, gold, flame (Diana Cooper technique)

putting myself in mirror ball (deflects negativity away from you)

putting myself in a white bubble

putting myself in a white tube of light which reaches up to source

anchoring silver, metallic suites of armour around myself

wrapping a silver cloak around myself

Putting myself in a lead pyramid(ultimate protection)

Putting myself in gold or silver pyramids

Putting myself in lead egg with silver coating

Many of the Spiritual Gurus like Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Diana Cooper and Anne Jones teach the violet flame technique for a method of protection.

Judy Hall author of Psychic Protection wrote,"Rituals work not because of some inherent magical powers, but because they focus your attention. It is will, and intention that provide the strongest protection." Judy also writes that psychic attack may also come from your own negative thoughts/feelings, and encourages you to let go of negative thinking and destructive patterns to ensure your not attacking yourself.

So why not try these techniques out for yourself to build your protection every day and deflect negativity away from you.

Talk soon.

Love & Light

Gillian

Fish Oils Can Reduce Tumours

Hi All

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Just found this article which I thought you would find interesting.

Cancer sufferers have been told that eating oily fish can shrink tumours and reduce side effects of tumours.

Fish such as mackerel, herring, sardines, salmon, and trout have long been linked to boosting brain power and fighting heart disease and now seems to have further beneficial effects of reducing tumours.

Scientists at Mansoura University, Egypt, studied the impact of Omega 3's on animals having chemotherapy for tumours. The research , published in science journal Cell Division, found high consumption of fish oils reduced the size of growths.

It also lessened the damage to kidney tissue, a side effect of the chemo.

It is thought the power of the acids could be harnessed in a pill for patients in the future.

Hope you enjoyed this interesting research.

Love&Light

Gillian

Fish Oil Supplements 'beat psychotic mental illness'

Hi Everyone

I thought this article I found was really interesting and thought I would share with you.

It was reported on BBC News online, 2nd February 2010, that trial findings suggest taking a daily fish oil capsule can stave off mental illness in those at highest risk.

A three month course of the supplement appeared to be as effective as drugs, cutting the rate of psychotic illness like schizophrenia by a quarter.

The researchers believe it is the omega 3 in fish oil, already hailed for promoting healthy hearts, that has beneficial effects on the brain.

A "natural" remedy would be welcomed, Archives of General Psychiatry says;

"Antipsychotic drugs are potent and can have serious side effects, which puts some people off taking them. Fishoil supplements, on the other hand, are generally well tolerated and easy to take, say the scientists".

A test group of 81 people deemed to be at high risk with strong family history of schizophrenia or similar disorders were tested, with some already showing mild symptoms of these conditions.

Based on the results, the investigators estimate that one high risk adult could be protected from developing psychosis for every four treated over a year.

They believe omega 3 fatty acids found in supplements may alter brain signalling in the brain with beneficial results.

Hope you enjoyed my post.

Love & Light

Gillian

Neuroplasticity-regenerating the brain

Believe it or not, the human brain has the capacity to change that neuroscientists have only just recently been discovering. For example stroke victims who end up with paralysis in a whole limb used to be told, "Sorry that part of your brain is damaged, you will never regain control". Now the people with same paralysis are learning to pick up spoons and eat with the hand and arm that was previously permanently paralyzed.

How? It's called Neuroplasticity. Thats the scientific word for the discovery of just how much our brains are able to change themselves. It's amazing, but our thoughts (which are created by our brain) can actually change the brain!

Most people only scratch the surface of what is possible, because the change isn't observable by the naked eye, and the change requires a certain level of sustained mental focus, that few people bother with.

The reason Neuroplasticity is so exciting, is that it allows you to literally build new neural circuitry (pathways of thought and automatic brain reactions) in response to feared situations.

Dr David Hamilton discusses this in his books and also commented in Soul & Spirit Nov 2009 "When you visualise what you want to happen in your life, your brain thinks its happening now. The neural activity will direct some of your unconscious movements and language to cause you to do exactly what you need to do, say exactly what you need to say, and be exactly what you need to be. Some people call this luck, but it stems from your hopes and dreams causing neuroplasticity in your brain."

Love & Light

Gillian

Kabbalah String Does Really Protect You

Hi Everyone

Today I want to talk about Kabbalah. I studied Kabbalah for about 2 years and joined their website and bought a few books on the subject.

Joining their website sets you up to receive emailed (72 names of God) symbols which you can meditate on. With the symbol is accompanying text telling you the meaning of the symbol and why it had been sent out to you, and I can guarantee you, it was always the one that I needed at that time, giving me wisdom and guidance that I required. At the time my personal life was pretty unstable so this resource of wisdom and guidance was much needed at the time.

I decided to buy some Kabbalah red string as I was so impressed with my email updates but I was skeptical even though I'm a spiritual person. However I can say I was equally impressed with the red string.

I first tied a piece of Kabbalah Red string around my wrist when I was having terrible fights with an ex boyfriend in 2005, and I knew instantly it was working and felt protected. We split up shortly afterwards and I do believe it helped prevent his venom coming my way as I seemed to sail through the break up unscathed even though he was really angry.

However it was a more recent incident with a family member that showed me how powerful it was at protecting. Family confilct is probably the most upsetting thing to all of us, but for me it made me so ill that I did actually become physically ill, couldn't function and had to take a few days off work. I thought this is ridiculous but again I was up against real angry venom, I suddenly remembered I had Kabbalah red string, so quickly tied it around my left wrist and I couldn't believe the difference. Within a day I got my energy back, I no longer felt overwhelmed, I could function, I no longer worried about the conflict, I actually felt quite happy and balanced and of course could return to work as I felt well. I was really blown away.

I would definitely recommend Kabbalah red string for protection from upsetting, angry conflicts.

Let me know of your experiences.

Love & Light

Gillian

Kindness Is Good For Your Health

Hi Everyone,

As you know I'm a big fan of Dr David Hamilton's work. He is a scientist, author, and motivational speaker. His books often marry up the scientific with mysticical which is great for me as I have spent the last seven years studying the mystical and here is a wonderful new scientist now giving scientific proof why spiritual practices like affirmation and visualisation work. He recently wrote an article on "Kindness" in November 2009 Soul & Destiny magazine, which I thought was wonderful and thought I'd share it with you;

"Being kind improves immune function, is good for your heart, increases mental and emotional wellbeing, and even makes you more optimistic. Practice daily acts of kindness whenever the opportunity arises. Not only will it make a difference in someone's life, but it will make a difference in yours, too. It can also be an antidote to mild to moderate depression. How? Because depression causes us to focus our attention on ourselves and less on others. Kindness nurses the focus back outward again and with this comes a gradual flood of positive emotions and optimism."

Hope you liked the above post and feel free to comment. What act of kindness are you going to do today?

You only have to think of people like Princess Diana who would often do random acts of kindness like visiting hospitals in the middle of the night, while her own personal life was in crisis. Even if everything else is falling down about your ears being kind will still make you feel good about yourself!!!!!!!

Love & Light

Gillian

Getting Rid Of Negative Thoughts For Good!

Hi Everyone

Today I want to give you a tool to help you get rid of negative thinking.

We are all human and of course negative emotions can magnify when tragedy hits. This often leads to a rollercoaster of emotions. In an ideal world it would be great to have no negative emotions and feel love for everyone, even to those who we feel have wronged us in some way.

It is in our best interests though to consciously let go of negative thinking if we are to have a happy, healthy mind and body.

If you feel you must have time to be feel negative emotions limit yourself to 30 minutes per day only. The other twenty three and a half hours you must make a concerted effort to only have positive thoughts.

When a negative thought enters your head during your positive period first of all acknowledge it, thank it for its lessons and then ask for it to be taken up to source and bless it and the people involved. If you can visualise, you could also see the situation, person, or emotions floating up to source in a balloon which transmutes into positive energy once it is above the clouds.

This method has worked wonders for me (I was on the rollercoaster of negative emotions since my Mother passed away) and I've found that my once recurring negative thoughts are diminishing and nearly gone.

This might seem really easy but give it a go and I'm positive you will see a dramatic difference in your thinking. Remember the reason depression gets us is because we do the opposite of the above and let negative thinking take over, we then think negatively for twenty three and a half hours and positively for 30 minutes.

The brain is like a plant it needs food, water and light, bright thoughts to ensure good health. If you put a plant in the dark it dies, or if you put a part of the plant in the dark, that part of the plant dies. It is the same with the brain.

Keep your thoughts light and bright to build yourself a better, brighter, happier life. You are worth it and deserve it.

Love & light

Gillian

Geopathic Stress makes us ill

Happy New Year Everyone

I hope you've all set your New Year resolutions to be a healthier, happier you for 2010 and I will of course certainly do my best to help you all to achieve that goal.

My last blog briefly touched on geopathic stress which can have the following symptoms:

Disturbed sleep

Babies and children fret and don't sleep well

Restlessness

General tiredness

'Sick Building Syndrome'

Inability to get well and stay well

Immune system problems

Repeated miscarraiges, infertility problems

Birth defects

Any other symptom but especially ME, headaches, hyperactivity, some cancers

General feeling of something not being quite right in a particular area of a room

Cracks or damp re-occuring

Depression

Bad relations with others

Geopathic theory states that the inner earth normally vibrates at 8Hz as it rotates. However, locations of geopathic stress have vibrations at much higher frequencies.

If the inner Earth's vibration of 8Hz crosses a water vein 60-150 metres underground, stress lines vibrating at up to 250Hz can be created. Similar to EMF,s, such frequency anomalies are said to cause disturbances in the immune system, behaviour and cell structure. (Taken from www.hk4health.co.uk/geopathic.htm

After reading a stack load of information on the internet there are several ways to counteract geopathic stress.

Dulwich Health (www.dulwichhealth.co.uk) offer free assessments of geopathic stress if you send in sketch draing plans of your house. They also have terrific products raditechs and geo-oysters etc to counteract geopathic stress as well as lots of valuable information on the subject.

Feng Shui is another option, they use earth acupuncture with pipe, stake or crystals to transmute energy to positive energy(www.fengshuiweb.co.uk)

David R Cowan had a very informative website with a good selection of pictures which showed you how to dowse and uses pipes to transmute energy etc (www.leyman.demon.co.uk)

It just so happened I was reading Healing Negative Energies by Anne Jones when I was having these problems. Anne's book had a whole section on transmuting geopathic stress. I used her method which used dowsing to find entry/exit points of lines and then I inserted pointed clear crystal quartz into the ground at enrty/exit points. If unable to insert into soil, you could tape to skirting board.

I definitely found a difference in my energy levels and at the time I also had my Sister and Mother's house checked by Dulwich Health. They also had geopathic stress. I followed the same formula in their houses and noticed a huge change in my Mother as she would always have to sleep as soon as she came in from work. Her energy levels really improved significantly and she felt like a new woman, she couldn't believe how much better she felt.

Tip: make sure crystals are securely taped on to skirting board with point down and check on them. Recently I was very fatigued when I suddenly noticed my crystal had detached from the wall and fallen over. Again symptoms reduced when I re-attached the crystal to its position.

Can we get rid of geopathic stress for good? I'm working on this one, as land energies change all the time I am hoping I can. I am also a great believer in the Law of Attraction and know that I'm attracting this energy for some reason, (perhaps to learn about it and blog about my journey with it?). I believe if we constantly work on ourselves then we we can heal anything. Other methods I have used are EFT to tap it out of my body and visualising big copper pipes going into the centre of the earth and all the way up to source. I see the black energy leaving through these pipes up past the clouds where it transmutes into white energy. I then see the white energy running through these pipes. I am also doing an earth meditation with energy healing and reiki to heal the earth and especially the land under my house!!!!.

If I do clear it for good, I will let you know.

Love, Light & Blessings for 2010.

Gillian

How do you know what vitamins to take?

Merry Xmas to everyone checking out my blog today. Hope you all had a fantastic time over Xmas and hopefully Santa was very good to you.

Today I want to talk about vitamins. Did you know that if your body doesn't get enough vitamins, it'll make you want to over eat. For example we use B vitamins every time we eat, therefore if we eat junk food we fail to provide the body with the necessary B vitamins to replenish what we have used, hence you will crave more food. Doreen Virtue explains this in her book Losing the Pounds of Pain.

However taking a simple hair test can trace all your deficiencies and get you sorted out quickly. There are lots of hair testing companies on the internet, but I chose the Rapha Centre in Braco, Scotland. The test is based on bioenergetic testing. This science owes its origins to Homeopathy and Acupunture. Ampoules are used to test the hair to trace imbalances in the cell energy. They check over the whole system of the body internally and even external factors, for example;

Digestive system

Hormonal function, the endoctrine system-thyroid, pituitary gland

Structure-skeleton,ligaments,tendons,cartilage,muscle,skin

Elimination process- lymph system, urinary system, skin

Organs-organ function and run up systems

Viral, bacterial, parasitic and vaccine activity

Emotional and mental state

Geopathic, electromagnetic stress. Radiation.

I decided to try this as I felt washed out with no energy, could hardly get out of my bed, stress was off the richtor scale, over eating, I couldn't get rid of my skin rashes. From the above report I discovered I was suffering from electromagnetic and geopathic stress which are external factors. I had just moved into a new house which was built on farmland and was pretty close to electricity pylons. Farmland is renowned for underground fast moving streams which can cause geopathic stress as it causes natural earth radiation to vibrate at a much higher rate.

The vitamins prescribed had the desired effect and I also looked into resolving the geopathic and electromagnetic stress in my house. My energy returned and my rash cleared up, stress levels reduced, I didn't seem as hungry so was able to manage my weight better.

I would highly recommend to anyone with immune problems, over eating, stress and fatigue, although they do test over 400 parts of the body, so obviously they would be able to help with probably almost anything.

To quote Nobel Prize winner Dr Linus Pauling, "You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency".

Remember all you have to do is take action if you are not feeling well or you have some ailment that no doctor can help. No action will result in more of the same illness. I want you all to be as healthy and happy as possible and this is an option that doesn't cost the earth that gets to the root of your problem.

Hoping you all have a happy, healthy year in the New Year.

Love & light & blessings

Gillian

Coping With Stress

Hi Everyone

Thanks for checking out my blog today. We are coming up for a busy time during the festive season where stress levels can go through the roof. Studies have told us that the first step in tackling stress is to become aware that it is a problem for you. The next stage is to make a plan to take control of the causes and effects of stress. Here are some practical ways to take control of stress.

Holiday-try to plan one each year with a change in activites and surrounding.
Open up-if your relationship is part of the problem. Communication is very important.
Work-is that the problem? What are your options? Could you retrain? What aspects are stressful? Could you delegate?

Try to concentrate on the present don't dwell on the past or future worries.
Own up to yourself that you are feeling stressed.

Be realistic about what you can achieve. Don't take on too much.
Eat a balanced diet. Eat slowly and sit down allowing at least half and hour for each meal.
Action plans- write down the problems in your life that are causing stress, and as many possible solutions as you can or what would make it better. Make a plan to deal with each one.
Time management-plan your time, doing one thing at a time building in breaks. Write a priority list. Don't make too many changes at once in your life.
Set priorities- if you could only do one thing what would it be and do it? You will feel a sense of relief when you achieve one task on your priority list.
Talk things over with a friend or family member or someone else you can trust and share your feelings with.
Relaxation or leisure time each day is important. Try new ways to relax yoga, meditation, reflexology, aromatherapy, exercise.
Exercise regularly- at least 20 minutes 2 or 3 times a week. Excellent for stress control. Walking in green areas is really good for you.
Say no and dont feel guilty
Seek professional helpif you've tried all these things and you still feel stress is a problem. I would recommend, Reiki, Kinesiology, Massage.

I hope you enjoyed my blog, and remember all you have to do is TAKE ACTION, to combat stress. So implement some of the points above to combat stress now. You owe it to yourself.

Love &light

Gillian

Relaxation or leisure time each day is important.

Emotional Healing

Hi there

Thanks for checking out my blog. Today I want to help people to stop pulling themselves down by their own negative inner talk. You might not even notice you do it. There are enough people out there ready to criticise you without you doing it to yourself!!!! This lowers your energy vibration so in effect you are sabotaging yourself from feeling better or doing better in life with your constant inner negative talk tape playing. Here are some steps to overcome this:

1)Stop all criticism-critism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticise yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. When you criticise yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve of yourself your changes are positive.

2)Don't scare yourself-Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts. Find a mental image that gives you pleasure and immediately switch your thoughts to pleasant ones.

3)Ge Gentle,Kind and Patient-Treat yourself with patience, gentleness, and kindness. Treat yourself as you would someone whom you loved.

4)Be Kind to your Mind-Self hatred is only hating your own thoughts. Gently change your thoughts to more loving ones.

5)Praise Yourself-Praise builds your inner spirit. Tell yourself how well you are doing with everything because you deserve it. Lots of praise.

6)Support Yourself-Reach out to friends and allow them to help you. It is being strong to ask for help when you need it most.

7)Be Loving to Your Negatives-Acknowledge that you created them to fulfill a need which you are now releasing. Release old patterns and build new positive ways.

8)Take Care Of Your Body-Learn about nutrition, whether via internet, slimming class, books. Cherish the temple you live in and learn what your body needs for optimum energy and health.

9)Mirror Work-Look into your eyes and tell yourself "I love you and forgive you, all is well in my world". This is very important as you are staring into your soul loving and forgiving it.

10)Do It Now-Don't make excuses, begin now doing what you can! Someone will appreciate anything you can do to help.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I hope you can put some of the above information to good use to make positive life changes in your world.

Love & Light

Gillian

Emotional Healing And Weight Loss

Hi there

Welcome to my blog today. I'm a big fan of Doreen Virtue and would like to share some information from her book Losing The Pounds of Pain.

Did you know Doreen Virtue(who has PHD counselling psychology) discovered that whilst treating Clients diffusing their emotional baggage they all seemed to lose weight. Doreen explains this with many case studies in her book Losing the Pounds of Pain. This book also gives many details about abuse and what cycles it produces, and gives tips on how to break these cycles, including overeating due to abuse.

Here are some interesting facts from this book below;

Sexual, physical and emotional abuse survivors often come from alcoholic households.

Abuse survivors who don't deal with their closeted anger and self-blame often enter into emotionally abusive adulthood situations at work or in their love lives.

People who have been in abusive situations will stay in abusive situations longer than those from a loving family.

Most abuse survivors minimise what happened to them

Many women don't remember the abuse they experienced until a dramatic life event occurs.

People who insist that everything was perfect while growing up are often abuse survivors who are overcompensating in order to keep a tight lid on an unexamined and painful childhood.

Many children enter into disassociation or splitting off from reality as a way of escape from abuse. It can be a routine coping mechanism as the child gets older.

Post Traumatic Stress makes you especially prone to anxiety and depression.

If children walked on eggshells around father this leads to difficulty relaxing around male authority figures.

One of Doreen's tips for curbing overeating is when feeling hungry picture your inner child in your mind and give her a hug and tell her she is safe. Then say the affirmation "I Forgive, Accept, and Trust Myself" as many times as is needed.

Well I hope you find the above helpful and isn't it interesting to think if we healed our emotional problems we could also reduce our weight.

Love&light

Gillian

Emotional Healing Tips

Hi, I'm Gillian Sneddon, thanks for checking out my blog today.

I love improving peoples wellbeing and would like to share as many of these tips I've learned over the years with as many people as possible in my blogs.

I have been practicing Reiki for nearly 7 years and I'm also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I was also fortunate enough to have joined a healing circle where there were many different therapies practiced where I learned golden nuggets of wisdom from my mentors as well as other therapists in the class. I benefited greatly from trying many other holistic therapies such as Reflexology, EFT, Kinesiology and would like to pass on everything I have learned over the last 7 years.

Healing Tip No 1

Did you know Kinesiology (based on Chinese Medicine), uses the tool of getting the Client to read what a Bach Remedy does for the body to increase the bodies vibration of wellbeing to the same vibration as actually taking the essence.

The body can resonate with the Bach Remedy just by reading the words, no requirement to take the essence is necessary!

The mind is a powerful tool. It makes you think what vibrations are we putting into our bodies by what we read!!!!

Love & Light

Gillian
